Let’s Get Dirty

SITREP

International Intelligence have learned of an insurgence group in Iraq that have acquired a large amount of Cesium-137 (Cs-137). This material is a by product of nuclear fission reactors and is extremely dangerous if not properly contained. The insurgence group has placed a large amount of Cs-137 in 6 locations throughout the city attached to C4 satchel charges and a cellphone detonator. They plan on testing the effects of exposure in an urban environment.

Intelligence

After the fall of the Soviet Union, a large amount of the Cs-137 was smuggled out of the region from Tajikistan into Afghanistan where all traces of the material have disappeared. The CDC states that “External exposure to large amounts of Cs-137 can cause burn, acute radiation sickness, and even death.” It’s the death part the insurgents want to find out. There is a Comms Center in the norther section of the city not far from briefing area where the codes for the cellphones are relayed for remote detonation of the bombs.

Mission

A 4-person team will travel to the Comms Center prior to mission brief, place explosives on the facility, then return to the briefing area to rejoin their squads prior to detonation. Hotel platoon will head southwest to Objective Hotel 1, and Alpha platoon will head southeast to Objective Alpha 1. Clear out and defuse the bombs at objectives 1-3 then link up with the US Army Rangers in the south end of the city where the Rangers will move into the city to secure the bombs.
