SITUATION
TFA have been assisting US Forces in an undisclosed Far East country that has been suffering an internal civil war due to USSR led incursions. Due to the escalating nature of the conflict within the area, the US made the decision to start conducting their own counter ground operations.
During the course of one these operations, a Pltn of the 1/7 Cavalry has become over extended and cut off from their main force. This in turn has led to a major battle that is currently underway, with the main force being unable to reach their cut off Pltn without the assistance of reinforcements.
INTEL
TFA have been on standby to bolster this operation, with the need now imminent. The AOR is primarily the main LZ (X-Ray) which consists of a small clearing surrounded by hilly terrain on 3 sides with a support LZ (Yankee) situated approximately 3 miles.
A large concentration of enemy forces has also be identified beyond X-Ray which is poised to strike a harmful blow to US efforts in the area.
MISSION
TFA will ride to the rescue of X-Ray and bolster the main force at the LZ. We will be used by the CO of 1/7 via Spartan to reinforce areas of his line that are under pressure to prevent the LZ being overrun, to allow Med Evac elements of TF 23 to carry out their required duties. Once the LZ is secure, TFA will then carry out an advance in force to retrieve the cut off Pltn and escort them back to the main force for extraction.
During the period of the operation CH-47s from the US Army’s “Hill Climbers” will bring in various M113s for TFA to use to close with and kill the substantial enemy force identified past LZ X-Ray and hold the plane until further orders.
