Operation Mud Puppy

by Cpl. Sheepdog. Mission date Friday 21st June 2024, 19:00 GMT

SITREP:

12 hours ago a militant insurgent group attacked a container ship, identified as the MV Advent, in the strait of Hormuz. During the attack an American SH 60 Seahawk attempted to intervene, which usually causes the pirates to flee. This time, however, the raiders were prepared and were in possession of an anti-aircraft weapon mounted to their boat.

The Seahawk was shot down and one or more of the crew were captured along with the ship and her crew. The MV Advent was sailed to a port city on the African coast where it is currently docked and being offloaded. This area is controlled by several tribes of insurgents and militants. It is unknown which of these tribes perpetrated the attack, nor why they decided not to retreat as per their normal tactics.

The downing of an American military aircraft is an unexpected escalation for any of these tribes. Their usual tactics are to flee if intercepted and if not intercepted then take the ship, steal the payroll money and ransom the vessel and crew within 8 hours after. As of this briefing no ransom demands have been received.

SOCOM has been tasked with recovering the aircrew and crew of MV Advent. TFA has been hired to conduct the rescue as all local SOCOM units are already engaged in other operations.

INTEL:

We have received intel that the ship has been docked at a small pier and containers have been offloaded. It is believed that the ship’s crew are being held on the ship. The missing aircrew have been reported to have been moved to a prison compound a few klicks away from the port area.

We also know that there are 2 Russian made radar sites, one short range and one long range, between the port and the prison.

This is a night op, and stealth is CRITICAL. The AO is home to many groups of insurgents, all of them extremely hostile to Western powers. Should they detect our presence, we’re both on our own and in DEEP trouble.

MISSION:

TFA will split into two teams and insert by RHIB. Team One will tasked with the primary mission of retaking the container ship and rescuing the ship’s crew, plus searching for intel.

After clearing the ship, Team One will make their way to the radar site and plant explosives on the short range radar and the control building for the long range radar. These will not be detonated until Team One RVs with Team 2, so we can avoid attracting attention and exfil in safety by helicopter. They will then move to the prison to support Team Two.

Team Two will make their way to the prison to rescue the air crew. They will then hold and defend until Team One rejoins them.

Once the prison area is secure, we will call for exfil. This will definitely attract attention, so be prepared for a QRF response.
