TFA Birthday Mission – Exercise Solar Exclipse 🗓

Scheduled Past OpOrds

Following recent geo political events in Eastern Europe, NATO has announced that it will stage a 5 day exercise in Virolahti.

The location is significant as Virolahti is only 10KMs away from the Russian border. NATO have chosen this area to welcome Finland as a partner nation and to show Russia that NATO is ready to respond to any incursion on sovereign soil.

Task Force Athena have been tasked with acting as a forward reconnaissance company. Our job is to land on the beaches of Finland, ahead of the main force and establish a beach head that the larger forces will utilise. Once the main force has landed, TFA have been tasked with three more objectives, including a point of interest believed to be a communications hub.

Mission

At 00:15am TFA will infil via assault boats to two landing zones. Landing Zone Quicksilver and Landing Zone Footloose.

Alpha Platoon will land at LZ Quicksilver with their main objective being the small village of Hanski, codename Alpha.

Hotel Platoon will land at LZ Footloose with their main objective being to establish a blocking force at hill 32, codename Bravo.

Alpha Platoon will clear the village of Hanski and setup a blocking force at the crossroads to the north of the village at GR:107048. Their main task is to stop any QRF from taking back the village and deeming the beach head unusable for the main NATO Task Force.

Hotel Platoon will conduct a similar task on hill 32 at GR:123045. Enemy QRF is expected from the northern towns of Ferikkala and Kirkonkyla.

Once the main NATO Task Force has landed on the beach head, Hotel Platoon will link up with Alpha Platoon at their crossroads holding point. Together, the company will move north to clear the Point of Interest at GR:096052. The company will then push further inland to clear the coastal villages of Niemela (GR:088057) and Rannanen (GR:105066). There is a potential counter attack from the North West of Rannanen. Depending on the timing of our advance, we may then need to push to the coastline to deter any counter offensive across the river.

Ground Topology

Undulating hills with large forests.

Thick Fog – BluFor Air Assets are grounded for at least 2 hours after mission go.

Intelligence

Point of interest 1 (POI1) marked on your maps. We suspect there is a radio or communications hub here due to the amount of signals intelligence we have intercepted.
